Oil sands is a kind of crud oil of low quality, which is massively produced in Canada. It contains a large amount of mud and sands. It is impossible to extract lightweight fuel oil by traditional method. In April of 2004, Canadian government has learnt that our institute has the technology of distilling lightweight fuel oil under the condition of non-high pressure and non-hydrogen from residue oil. After two times of investigation made by the experts of Canadian Alberta Energy Research Institute (AERI), they consider our technology could be used in the processing of Canadian oil sands. Now, this technology is formally added into the intergovernmental cooperation project of energy field (2004DFB00500).
