Orimulsion is a kind of heavy weight fuel with high content of sulfur, which is imported by CNPC in 1994 from Venezuela. After combusting this kind of oil, it will corrode the facilities and pollute the atmosphere. In 1995, some domestic state class institutes universities, and also some overseas famous scientific research institutes have researched desulfurization technology from orimulsion. None of them reached the goal. Recommended by Ministry of Petroleum in 2004, after two years of tackling technical problems', our institute accomplished every target in the project contract. It is now being used on the domestic large-sized power boilers.

Monitored by China Environmental Monitoring Station, ratio of desulfurization is 85%. It could meet the requirement of State latest standard of II period of SO 2 consistency. Its technical achievement has been transferred.
